Persuasive Essay!!

Imagine a world where everyone is fat. Just kidding, you don’t have to because it has already happened. Kids in our country need to be healthier. They need to eat better food, get more sleep, and be more active. Our country has over150 types of fast food places.

In the movie “Super Size Me” it tests kids by holding up pictures of famous people to see how many of them the kids could recognize. Out of all the pictures all of the kids could recognize Ronald McDonald. Now what does that tell you about kids these days? "Hundreds of millions of people buy fast food every day without giving it much thought, unaware of the subtle and not so subtle ramifications of their purchases," writes the National Magazine Award-winning Schlosser. "They rarely consider where this food came from, how it was made, what it is doing to the community around them. . . . The whole experience is transitory and soon forgotten." If kids would eat healthier food they would benefit in so many ways. They would be fit; they would have more energy, etc. Another way for kids to become healthier is to get more sleep.

The average kid needs 10 to 11 hours of sleep and they are getting only 9.5 hours. Kids without sleep become crankier, have less energy, and do not function as well. They do poorly in school and other activities. Sleep experts say that without enough sleep, kids' relationships with family and friends can suffer. And when sleep-deprived, babies and toddlers may not be as alert and open to the world as they should be. If kids do not have energy they will not be as active.

Being active is a great way to become healthier. The average person should exercise about 3 hours a week. There is no way that today’s kids are doing that. Just think about this. When is the last time you have seen kids playing outside on the jungle gym or swing sets in the summer? I hardly ever see that. They are usually playing video games or watching TV. I am not saying all kids are like this, just most of America.

So those are some of the reasons on why I think kids in America need to be healthier. They need to eat better food, get more sleep, and be more active. I hope after reading this you understand just why they need to do that.

So what did you think? Did I everything correctly? Please tell me by leaving a comment on what you thought about my persuasive essay. It would be really great if you did and would also help me a lot in the future. Thank you.
